PHOCEA

I know there was some turmoil under previous ownership.  However, the new crew at Phocea is fantastic.  They are not only professionals who put safety first, but it felt like diving with a bunch of friends.  I strongly recommend the Maya package which includes 2 dives at Playa, 2 dives at Cozumel and 2 cenote dives.  This package is as varied as it gets and each one is a unique experience.  Merci les gars (et filles), c’était fort bien.

I visited these guys in March and completed my open water, advanced and nitrox course with them. I was a complete beginner and they were fantastic instructors. They are so knowledgeable and are expert tech divers. My instructors were Matise and Val and also Antoine for one day at Cozumel. Their English is great and they explained everything in detail. There was also a Divemaster in training here called Gily who brought lots of fun to the dives. She explained in detail what was going to happen and what we needed to go and took some great photos of us.
I saw so much amazing marine life, we swam with bull sharks for multiple dives, turtles, lobsters, eels, pufferfish and so many other types of fish. I also did two cenotes which was out of this world. I felt like I was flying underwater. When you are down below it is a magical experience and you forget about all the things in life and just focus on all the beauty that surrounds you. It’s an amazing feeling. Highly recommend these place and all the instructors, you are in very capable hands. Safety is their first priority and they want to make sure you are enjoying yourself. I need to return as so many dives in the area to do there was simply not enough time!

I had an amazing experience diving with Phocea in Playa del Carmen! I did a Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) and it was one of the highlights of my vacation. The team was incredibly professional, friendly, and made me feel safe and confident throughout the entire experience. A huge thank you to Margot, my instructor, who was patient, knowledgeable, and super encouraging — she made the whole process smooth and enjoyable. Also a special shoutout to Gily, who brought great energy and made the dive even more fun! The dive sites were beautiful. I highly recommend Phocea to anyone looking to dive in Playa del Carmen — whether you’re a beginner or experienced diver, you’ll be in great hands!

We spent a whole week with Phocea to pass our PADI Open Water certification, went to Cozumel, Cenotes as well as went on a day-trip to spot whale sharks ! The whole week was an amazing experience. Everyone at Phocea is super professional, super kind and make you very comfortable in and out the water ! I’d strongly recommend to anyone looking to dive in Playa !
